Dex completed his Doctor of Physiotherapy degree at the University of Melbourne after practicing as a Registered Massage Therapist in British Columbia. He was formerly the Physiotherapist for the UFC.
Dex’s philosophy utilizes his skills in manual therapy as well as an evidenced-based approach of exercise and movement retraining which is unique to each individual. Dex loves working with the general population, whether suffering from chronic pain to recreational athlete. Dex’s true calling in life is to help people be the best version of themselves.
Dex began his journey in international professional sports physiotherapy in 2019 as an intern for the UFC, which eventually lead him to a full time position. During his tenure, he worked alongside world class leaders in Sports medicine, Physiotherapy and Strength and Conditioning to rehabilitate and reduce injury risks among highly ranked UFC fighters. His role involves helping fighters stay healthy for fight cards and was also involved in creating the UFC post-surgical protocols for ACL, artificial disc replacement, fracture as well as the return to sport from concussion protocol.
Dex’s story as a physiotherapist initially began as a patient. While playing on several high-level soccer teams, including Jr. Whitecaps and University teams, Dex gained first-hand experiences on the importance of physiotherapy and rehabilitation. This eventually led to developing a passion in helping athletes of all levels successfully return to physical activity and sport.
Dex’s experience in this setting can be applied to any individual in the general population.
He is also certified in APPI’s Pilates Matwork and Reformers instructor and certified in Dry Needling as accredited by the Australian Physiotherapy Association.
